Lil Wayne's Young Money Entertainment To Trademark "New Dirty Bastard"
Now that the Young Money CEO has the whole Cash Money and Tha Carter V situation off his back after he was able to receive $10 million from Cash Money/Universal. It seems that Lil Wayne is ready to take on some new projects to keep him busy in 2018.
The first thing he's looking to do is secure the name New Dirty Bastard for use in music production, and other entertainment-related services. According to The Blast, he has already filed the paperwork to trademark the name.
Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the charismatic and wild character from the Wu-Tang Clan, named Ol' Dirty Bastard. As his fans will know he passed away in 2004, but one of his sons still raps today and goes by the name Young Dirty Bastard.
According to The Blast Ol' Dirty Bastard's eldest daughter, Taniqua Jones, and the attorney for the Estate of Russel Jones (ODB) were unaware that Young Money Entertainment had filed for a trademark of the name New Dirty Bastard. The Blast reports that they’re “willing to work together” with Young Money instead of shooting it down on sight. They added that they’d discuss things on an “artistic level before any other conversations take place.”
